This doesn’t happen often, but it’s best to know how to prepare for it just in case.

Signs You Need Whole House Re-piping
Your water pressure has changed: If you have experienced a change in your water pressure, your home’s pipes may need to be replaced, or some of them in any case. Investing in a water filtration system that will improve your home’s water pressure system is a good idea but does not replace the need for a whole home re-piping.
Pinhole leaks have been found under your concrete slab: If you have water lines under your home’s concrete slab that have developed pinhole leaks, you will need to have them re-piped. In fact, this is the most common reason we re-pipe homes.
Your home is over 20 years old: We’ve found that the average age of a home that needs a full re-pipe is around 20 years. If your home is 20 years or older and you are having multiple plumbing issues, you need a re-piping.
Pipes are corroded and leaking: If you see rust on exposed pipes or the joints of pipes that are leaking water, it could be a sign that you should replace your pipes. Our team can take a look and recommend repair or replacement.

How to Prepare Your Home for a Re-pipe
Re-pipes are a big project, but it’s nothing to put off. Here are a couple of ways you can prepare yourself and your home for a re-pipe.
Clear the area around where your pipe replacements will be.
Just like normal plumbing repairs, it can be helpful if you have made some room for our plumbers to work. For example, make sure there isn’t anything on your bathroom sink around the toilet, and even move things like your shower curtain so the job can move along quicker and more smoothly.
Stay elsewhere while your pipes are being fixed.
When your home is getting a re-pipe done, that means the water in your house will not be working, so it is recommended that you stay elsewhere. There will be a lot of work going on, it is often noisy, and while we will work hard to move quickly, it takes time depending on the size of your home.
Financially prepare for re-piping.
A re-pipe on your entire house can be a costly project. Still, when your pipes need this kind of work and replacements, it has to be done as soon as possible and most efficiently by a professional service like Complete Plumbing & Drain. That said, homes come in all different sizes, so the process does vary. Get in touch with us and schedule an appointment to get a more accurate cost estimate.
When estimating a whole-house re-pipe, the factors that most directly impact cost include:
- Accessibility of fixtures
- Number of plumbing fixtures in your home
- Plumber you hire
- Size of your home
- Type of re-piping material
